      • G4 Cancels Attack of the Show and X-Play

        -Greg Livingston

G4 announced today that Attack of the Show and X-Play will end in December. Attack of the Show and X-Play are the only two remaining game shows on the G4 network.

New episodes will continue to air until the end of the year. A number of special guests are planned, “including John Barrowman, Michael Ian Black, Josh Myers, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Horatio Sanz,” according to TV Guide.

G4 Media general manager Adam Stotsky told TV Guide, “Attack of the Show and X-Play have been important for G4, and we want to acknowledge the creative people who have helped inspire and showcase the phenomenon of gamer culture.” Both shows advanced the media coverage of video games, including live convention coverage.

TV Guide also mentioned rumors that G4 would seek to partner with a men’s periodical such as Esquire or GQ in order to develop a more sophisticated image in the future.
