      • Steam for Linux Beta Announced

        -Samer Farag

Valve recently announced that a beta for the Linux version of Steam will launch in October. Valve’s blog post states that there will be an internal beta test the first week of October. Following that, there will be a private, external beta, for 1,000 users. This will occur later in October.

This beta will include Steam plus one Valve, yet to be announced, and will support Ubantu 12.04, and above. This beta does not include the recently released Big Picture mode. Sign up for the external beta will be announced soon on Valve’s blog.

Valve recommends that users unfamiliar with Linux wait for a later release of Steam “where more features are implemented along with improvements to the user install experience.”

Tell us if you’re want to participate in the Linux Steam beta!
