        Hola, senors y senoritas!

This week’s episode starts out completely normal, but quickly becomes one of the most fun moments that any of us have ever had.

Sure, the cast starts out talking about what they have been playing, but they quickly get into talking about indie devs needing a publisher to get their games onto the Xbox One..

After that quick debate, it’s time to play a really cool game that release tomorrow. The Yawhg ends up leading the guys to constant laughter and pure fun.

Also, don’t forget to vote for The Yawhg on Steam Greenlight.

Since we moved to the website, the transition for posts from there to the Tumblr here, have not been working so smoothly.

We are working on the issue but honestly, it might just be easier to find us here and not worry about whether images come through or not. We are still providing you the best possible news, reviews, podcasts and videos regarding video games and whatever we feel like discussing.

Thanks for following us though still; it means a lot to us.

      • The Wait For A New Guilty Gear Is Finally Over!!!

It’s been a long time since Guilty Gear fans have actually gotten a new entry for the franchise. But now it’s time to get back into those fighting habits because Arc System Works announced Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and it is slightly different from previous GG titles. While the gameplay remains practically untouched, GGX SIGN uses 3D polygon models instead of the normal 2D sprites; this marks a first for the series.

Arc System Works confirmed that GGX SIGN is currently in development as an arcade title and will be using the Unreal Engine. The game running on Sega’s RingEdge 2 arcade system board and shall support the “ALL.Net P-ras MULTI Version 2” data saving system. This is all the information we know about GGX SIGN and while sources don’t state whether a console version is in development; it wouldn’t make sense not to appear on consoles. Check out the debut trailer for Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- down below and tell us it doesn’t make you want to rock hard!

All I have to say is… IT’S ABOUT TIME!!! Guilty Gear got me through a lot of rough times in high school and with the wacky characters and hectic fighting; this is going to be a well received game from fighting game fans. Not to mention the soundtrack is going to rock something fierce. I’m looking forward to some more details and to use my main man Ky Kiske.

      • What Exactly Is Panopticon?

I don’t mean Jeremy Bentham’s alternative outlook on the traditional prison system either. Earlier today, Sony showed off a teaser trailer for their mysterious new game Panopticon and boy does it look extremely interesting. Other than the name and developer Japan Studio, we know next to nothing about what Panopticon could be or if it even will come to the states.

Based off what Panopticon stands for and the trailer, we’re looking at a game which takes place in a science fiction future universe where citizens are constitanly being surveyed without them knowing. At best, Panopticon is an enigma but one that could possibly offer loads of entertainment. Watch the trailer and see exactly what Panopticon is or isn’t.

For a game being teased in Japan, it’s funny that the big reveal falls on the same day as the Xbox Event on the horizon. One thing we can all agree on is this: The world must wait to find out what Panopticon has in store.

Hands down all around, that trailer looked so awesome. I easily get drawn into games with this kind of vibe and the visuals makes it that much harder to look away. What is Panopticon and can I be so lucky as to have it be released in the states?

      • Look forward to Time and Eternity

Time and Eternity… a JRGP looking to accomplish something different in anime styled games. Where most anime titles such as Dragonball Z Budokai or Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm get the visuals right, Time and Eternity shall be the first, completely hand drawn anime game to arrive on PS3. The game certainly hits the anime visuals right on the nose and the animations are well done; even though it does have slow moments.

Fans of JRPGs most likely will find Time and Eternity peaking their interest. In this new trailer, the battle mechanics are shown off; revealing real-time combat and button prompts for attacking, dodging and so forth. Time and Eternity will be exclusive to the PS3 and is scheduled to arrive sometime in the summer. Be sure to check out the trailer below!

Oh man, I am so glad I stumbled upon this game. It looks great and even with the slow moments in animation; I can overlook that issue. For this game to be the first hand drawn anime title, that’s pretty interesting. Could Time and Eternity make way for more games following in it’s footsteps? Possible but for now, I just want to own this game already.

      • New Nintendo Direct About Wii U and 3DS Scheduled Tomorrow

Tomorrow at 10 a.m EDT/ 7 a.m PDT, Nintendo will hold a briefing discussing future 3DS and Wii U games. The Nintendo Direct will provide the details surrounding the upcoming Wii U and 3DS games scheduled to make appearances this summer and to unveil Wii U titles arriving in the fall and beyond that.

We know a brand new Mario for the Wii U is rumored to launch sometime in October. On top of that, new Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and Legend of Zelda titles are being developed for Nintendo’s console. With any luck, we’ll hear about some of those games tomorrow.

I certainly haven’t been the biggest fan of Nintendo lately but even I’m excited for a new Zelda title. I don’t have a 3DS yet but with all the amazing games coming out on that handheld, I see a purchase coming in the near future.

      • EA Stepping Into The MOBA Arena

Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas or MOBAs have been extremely successful in the past few years especially with behemoth League of Legends. Potentially seeing the gain in MOBAs, EA has announced their own MOBA called Dawngate. This fantasy MOBA is the first project developed by Waystone Games, which could be considered a spin-off of sorts from Visceral Games since both are owned by EA.

Beta sign-ups are open as of right now but there has been no word on when the beta will commence or even when Dawngate is supposed to be released. As to watch we can expect from Dawngate, the official site reads as follows: “Dawngate is a new MOBA, built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay. Dawngate empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community-driven content and story.”

At this time, no more details are known but we’ll update the story if that changes.

For a long time, I didn’t care for MOBAs and it was until recently that I got into League of Legends. Now with EA stepping up to make their own, I’m curious to see how this all works down the road.

      • EA Opens A Star Wars Focused Studio

The knowledge is pretty well-known that EA and Disney have partnered with the sole purpose of having EA create Star Wars games. By taking the necessary steps, EA created a new DICE studio located in Los Angeles. DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson talks about how the new studio will still maintain the same work environment as the other DICE studios. Interestingly enough, the location for this new studio was influenced by other developers in the area. Infinity Ward and Treyarch studios both reside in LA; the two rival developers behind Call of Duty.

There is an extreme talent pool over that we want a part of. It’s no secret that our main competitor is there.” With this said, Troedsson makes it clear that the new studio will do what it is designed to accomplish no matter what. Thanks to a tweet from the Battlefield account, we know jobs are being offered and that gives a glimpse of what to expect. The LA studio looks like it will be focusing on Star Wars mobile titles for Android, iOS and PC. Even with this focus on the mobile platforms, consoles won’t be neglected seeing how an audio artist position demands “strong Gen 3 console title experience” as well as “solid knowledge of PC and console audio hardware”. The future for Star Wars games looks bright, so let’s just hope we can have something to look forward to in the future.

I’m all for letting EA handle Star Wars because regardless of how people view them, they still make good games. Bioware, Visceral Games and DICE all have exceptionally good games under their belt, so there’s definitely more pros than cons here.

      • Payday 2 No Longer Just A Digital Purchase

Unlike the original Payday, Payday 2 is accompanied by a retail copy in addition to the digital form. Available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC via Steam, the sequel can be purchased how ever one chooses. Not only was it a smart move to branch out towards multiple consoles but by making a disk version, gamers not connected to the internet can still enjoy the crazy heists performed in Payday 2.

“We have a bit of a problem here at Overkill - there are just too many great ideas and none that we were really happy to throw out - so Payday 2 has become just too big to reserve release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network alone,” said Payday 2 director David Goldfarb. With all these ideas brewing at Overkill, hopefully we have access to a ton of content for the game.

Right now, it is unknown if the retail copy will go for a different price from the digital download. IGN reached out to 505 Games and a representative responded “at this time the price for the title (both downloadable and boxed) is still TBD.” There doesn’t seem to be a need for different pricing but regardless, we’ll update the story once we hear something official. Be sure to check out the gameplay footage for Payday 2 at the bottom of this article.

Big fan of the original Payday here, so count me in for being excited beyond belief. I have plenty of great memories playing Payday late at night with my friends and just having an all around good time. I’m glad it’s coming to the 360 and hopefully, we’ll get to see plenty of heists to undertake with friends.

      • No Monster Hunter Plans For PS Vita

        Posted By: Marcus Lawrence(@GGNMugen)

Monster Hunter… you either hate the series or love it with a passion. Regardless of how you view the series, the success of Monster Hunter cannot be ignored; especially in Japan. With Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 being released on the 3DS and not the Vita, you can imagine the blow dealt to the Vita. In a move that surprised most, Capcom has announced that they have no current plans to bring Monster Hunter to the PS Vita.

Capcom’s Associate Online/Community Specialist Yuri L. Araujo commented that there are “no plans for a PSVita Monster Hunter at the moment.” This news shuts down the 2012 rumors about Monster Hunter being brought over to the PS Vita. Monster Hunter 4 is coming to the Nintendo 3DS as an exclusive. Does this mean Monster Hunter is moving over to the 3DS for good? And what about the Vita? Will sales suffer if Monster Hunter no longer returns?

Time will tell but I’m sure this is stressful news for some.

The Gods Clash In This DC Brawler

Xbox 360 version used to review Injustice

Ever wonder what would happen if Superman just snapped? Took it upon himself to become judge, jury and executioner? And what of the other superheroes and supervillians; would they take his side or fight against the Kryptonian? That is the premise behind NetherRealm’s DC brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us. We rarely get to see what happens when Superman totally loses his cool and does what he sees fit. By all meaning of the word, Superman is a god among men and even lower metahumans as well. My question is: would you stand against him?

If your answer was no, congratulations because a good portion of heroes and villains sided with Superman to avoid his wrath. The game takes place in two different realities. After a very unfortunate accident, the Man of Steel stopped trying to protect humanity and instead rose up to rule over the masses. Anyone that got in his way was dealt with and soon; the world had no heroes to stop him except one. This “hero” needed backup but with most of his allies dead or joined up with Superman, he could do only one thing: call in reinforcements from another reality. Now, the heroes must stop a Superman who’s lost all control.

There’s a reason why Injustice looks extremely familiar to those who have played NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat 9. Besides a few minor differences, Injustice feels exactly like MK9 and that’s not a bad thing at all. MK9 did exceptionally well both in sales and reception, so take what made MK9 so great and add DC characters and what do you get? A fighter that can stand among other fighting games such as Mortal Kombat 9, Tekken, Marvel vs. Capcom and many more. So what do you get from Injustice that separates itself from other fighters? The story mode for one because it really impressed as far as plots go. Most fighters have a story I could care less about or confuse me at some point but that isn’t the case with Injustice. You don’t have to be a DC comic nut to understand what’s happening, so don’t let that factor deter you away.

Moving away from plot lines, playing Injustice felt great especially since I thoroughly enjoyed MK9. The roster list also stands out because it has a good mixture of fan favorites and characters only hardcore readers would know. Each character has his/her own unique basic, special, super and signature move set. What may work for Batman may not be the same for Killer Frost. The good thing is characters feel comfortable enough to give each one a test run. In some fighting games, I stick with three or four; for Injustice, I have ten characters I’m working on. The wonder of testing out characters is seeing what they have to offer. By stringing together light, medium, heavy and signature moves, players can perform brutal combos upon their opponent. What’s even better is the super moves which act like cinematic cutscenes as you watch your opponent (or you) get beaten in a truly stylish way. Injustice also introduces the Clash mechanic. By inputting the correct buttons, the screen will project two gauges; one for you and one for the opponent. The object here is to match or overcome the opponents gauge so that you don’t take damage or to damage the opponent. The Clash mechanic is very useful for getting out of combos but be sure you have enough energy in your gauge to do so or you’ll wind up losing the clash.

During the story mode, players fight through the campaign using various heroes and villains to progress the plot. There’s nothing outstanding about how the story mode plays out but the cutscenes are fun to watch; even if some appear rough around the edges. In between some fights are minigames, which normally requires the player to input the correct button sequence to stop the opponent from reaching you. The minigames are suited to the current character that is being used. During one of the games, I controlled The Joker and tossed playing cards at Nightwing to keep him from me via button inputs. I was impressed with how the Injustice plot actually kept me entertained from beginning to end. Not many fighting games do that for me. In case the story does begin to bore you or a break is required; there is a multitude of options to choose from.

One of the many options is the mission heavy S.T.A.R. Labs mode. Just as it sounds, this mode features unique mission parameters set for each individual character. The mission goals ranging from not getting hit once, block a move 10 times etc. Some of the requirements do frustrate at times because of how ridiculous the task can be. You really want me to dodge ten pies thrown at me while also keeping an eye out for clattering teeth on the floor? Some missions do require cheap tactics to surpass and may take multiple tries. Each character has a total of 10 missions to complete, so a total of 240 missions await. For those that pre-ordered Injustice from GameStop, you have access to the Red Son DLC and it adds an extra 20 missions to the S.T.A.R. Labs; equaling 260 missions total. That’s a lot of missions.

Other modes such as Single Fight and Training help to hone your skills against the A.I and practice working on new combos. Battles is basically the arcade mode of Injustice but offers different ways to play like fighting nothing but heroes or being poisoned and having to beat the final boss before your character dies. Adds a twist to the standard arcade option if you ask me. Most of your time (or at least mine) will be spent engaging other players using the online services. You have the regular options presented to you: ranked, player and private matches. Each of them allow players to gain XP whether you win or lose. The winner obviously gets more and as you gain XP, the higher your level will become. Levels are more than just a number; it allows you to unlock rewards in the Archives. Whether it be some kind of XP boost or a new skin, it’s well worth the investment. In terms of what kind of matches one may have online, the selection is diverse enough to guarantee enjoyment.

If you decide to play ranked matches, it can only be done in the 1V1 scheme. 1V1 is what it sounds like; two fighters go in and only one is victorious. However, if you move over to the player matches, there are more options to choose from besides 1V1. KOTH (King of the Hill) allows up to eight players to join a lobby and two of them duke it out while the remaining fighters watch. Whoever wins becomes king and must fight off the advances of those who wish to usurp the throne. To add even more excitement, players can bet XP on which fighter will come out on top. This mode is perfect for when you just want to fight amongst friends and mess around. Finally, Survivor is similar to KOTH but with a twist; whatever health you lose is gone. Granted, you can gain some back but this adds the “survivor” element to the mix. Players should definitely be able to find a ton of reasons to return again and again. Plus, if a friend ever comes over, there’s always the local versus mode to enjoy.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a truly outstanding fighter. Not many fighting games leave this kind of impression on me and I’m shocked it did so. The only major issues I’ve noticed are minor at best. The rough cutscenes (as I mentioned before) often took me out of the action and made me laugh but not in a good way. Some characters are unbalanced but that’s not surprising. I’ve never come across a fighting game where each character wasn’t broken in some kind of way. I’m sure a patch will release soon enough and nerf whatever characters need it. The load times are also an issue because I frequently came across a long load screen. However, I’m just nitpicking at the moment because I really don’t have much to complain about. Injustice is a really well-crafted fighting game and gets a lot of things right.

        Pros:

        • Plot worthy of any comic
        • Easy to pick up yet deep enough for fighting fans
        • Good selection of characters

        Cons:

        • Long load screens
        • Rough Cutscenes
        • Some S.T.A.R. missions are extremely frustrating

NetherRealm Studios did an exceptional job with Injustice: Gods Among Us. Fans of MK9 and DC Comics will eat this up and the game is even fighter friendly. There have been many nights where I stayed up late just to battle my friends. And after every fight, I used the classic line of “Just one more” which lasted for hours. I came away from Injustice truly impressed and if you are looking for a new game to sink your teeth into, I highly recommend you give this a go.

        Verdict: 8.5/10

Value Verdict: Fans of fighting games in general will enjoy this unless they don’t like 2D fighters. MK9 and DC fans will most certainly find entertainment here.

      • New Call of Duty Announced May 1st

        Posted By: Marcus Lawrence(@GGNMugen)

We all knew a new Call of Duty game would be released this year. Besides the fact that CoD has a yearly release, there have been other inclinations pointing to a new game in the works. On Wednesday, news broke of two retailers showing off information regarding the new game titled Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Today, displays were sent to retail stores, confirming the new CoD would be revealed next week.

This right here pretty much confirms all rumors of a new game to be true. Could it be Call of Duty: Ghosts or something entirely different? May 1st also lines up with last year’s Call of Duty release.
